Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for an Enterprise Assurance Lead to join our busy team, flexible working across the NWS estate.

Enterprise Assurance is the assurance environment of our business, inclusive of all formal assurance. It establishes a broad framework within which our business can be flexible in its approach to meeting assurance requirements, and provides a simple, systematic, and integrated approach across all activities using the 3 Lines Model of Assurance.

Lead development, implementation and effective delivery of the Enterprise Assurance Framework, across the whole of Nuclear Waste Services (NWS), which seeks to maximise the coverage of assurance in a coherent and coordinated manner by avoiding duplication or gaps, aligning assurance activities to governance and authorities and supporting the provision of a common view across the business.

This role will support the Head of Enterprise Assurance and Risk with development of NWS’s Enterprise Assurance Strategy and Vision and support the drive to improve our assurance culture through maturity assessment, implementation of the Enterprise Assurance Improvement Plan and leading on elements of the Enterprise Assurance Target Operating Model.

Lead co-ordination of Enterprise Assurance reports, providing the Executive and Board with timely, accurate and value adding information whilst also managing the day-to-day deliverables of the NWS Enterprise Assurance team.

Lead and develop the Assurance Community of Practice, comprising representatives from each Assurance team across NWS, meeting on a regular basis to share learning, ideas and discuss the root cause of common findings.

Lead on the design, development and implementation of the NWS Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Framework, including representing NWS at the Group Fraud Forum.

The role is expected to have strong communication and interpersonal skills to enable them to successfully influence and respectfully challenge colleagues in relation to upholding risk management standards.

The role has line management responsibility for the Assurance Manager and provides overall leadership of the Enterprise Assurance team.

This is a great role for a candidate who likes to make the process happen where internal audit is concerned. You will be involved in continuous improvement and responsible for making processes & the outcome better, while liaising with numerous stakeholders and pulling the assurance process together.

If you are within internal audit at a big 4 or top 10 firm perhaps this appeals to you. You might currently be a Senior Auditor or an Assistant to the Head of Audit. This will also suit an Assistant Manager who wants to take a step out of the corporate world, who understands the benefits of being within a public sector business that can offer longevity & interesting projects.
