Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for an experienced Project Quality Manager for the GDF to join our team flexible working across the NWS estate.

As part of this role, you will lead contact for all quality matters within their assigned area of the business and must have nuclear industry experience.

Hybrid working with the requirement to travel and to their nearest NWS location as required.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of quality professionals which provide a quality management service whilst ensuring that all activities defined planned and implemented in their area are aligned to the Quality Policy and Strategy.
  • To plan, evaluate, verify, and certify quality, proposing and embedding improvements where necessary to ensure delivery is effective, minimises the cost and/or consequence of failure and meets customer, stakeholder, specifications and requirements.
  • Deploying quality assurance and control activities to support right first-time delivery for their area.
  • Deploying quality improvement plans in accordance with relevant objectives. Using, capturing and sharing learning from experience to support improvement in quality performance.
Experience Required
  • Graduate in relevant discipline OR professional qualification (e.g. CQI Diploma).
  • Membership of the CQI or other relevant professional body.
  • Lower level qualifications MAY be considered and accepted for candidates with substantial
  • professional work experience in quality related roles.
  • Nuclear Project experience with similar complexity and risk, sufficient to understand and review end to end processes and propose quality improvements.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with Stakeholders.
  • Relevant security clearance level to access and inspect areas of site within area of responsibility (if applicable).

Essential Skills

  • Significant operational experience in an environment with similar complexity and risk.
  • Experience managing teams in a front-line operational or project role, or substantial experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver improvement activities.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels within the organisation to implement business improvements.
  • Experience of effective working in a collaborative working environment to ensure fit for purpose methods are utilised to meet customer needs, time, cost and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to produce clear reports
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of quality management systems, and experience developing and implementing quality standards in a manufacturing, engineering or project environment.
  • Experience undertaking quality audits and assurance activities.
  • Experience monitoring the quality performance and outputs of the quality process utilising and implementing appropriate KPIs and Metrics.
  • Experience of developing action plans and programmes to support improvements.
  • Experience of working in a Nuclear Industry

Desirable skills

  • Experience and or sound knowledge of the appropriate programmes, strategies, current challenges, working environment and collaborative arrangements currently in place.
  • Experience conducting investigations.
  • Experience in establishing and improving quality management arrangements in a project environment.
  • Experience leading and driving improvements using lean six sigma tools
  • Trained Internal/External Auditor.
  • Knowledge and /or experience of Quality Inspection Techniques.
