Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Senior Service Assurance Specialist to join our busy team, flexible working across the NWS estate. As part of this role, you will take ownership and accountability for delivering quality assurance activities as part of the integrated NWS Technical Quality Assurance Programme (working with a range of stakeholders including internal customers, suppliers and service providers). You will use quality assurance as a mechanism for strengthening compliance and driving improvements in technically assured work relating to the scope managed within Waste Management and Inventory, as well as supporting quality assurance arrangements for the broader range of NWS Waste Services.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and/or support audit and assurance arrangements in line with the annual programme.
  • Oversee the planning, scoping and execution of assigned audits in line with the agreed programme and business processes as part of a wider team.
  • Responsible for the provision of high quality, timely and accurate reporting output from all audit and assurance activities undertaken.
  • Develop, maintain and manage technical and commercial arrangements for the NWS Waste Verification Monitoring programme at LLWR Site.
  • Develop, maintain and manage a mechanism for recording and trending customer non-compliance issues encountered with waste consignments for both waste disposal and treatment services, including the raising of Condition Reports and application of Causal Coding.
  • Support quality assurance engagement with NWS regulators, certification bodies, customers and the supply chain.
  • Contribute to corporate targets and strategy through the provision of a value adding technical assurance service, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Own your personal development to develop competencies across the service assurance scope and broaden your knowledge of both NWS and Quality Management
  • As a representative for NWS Technical Directorate, the role holder must demonstrate professionalism, impartiality and integrity in all aspects of the role.

Experience Required
  • University degree in scientific, engineering or quality assurance related discipline (or relevant demonstrable experience in a highly regulated environment)
  • Depth and breadth of experience communicating with a wide range of industry stakeholders, including regulators and certification bodies
  • Proficient in ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and their implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on high attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Driving license / willing to travel
