Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Service Assurance Specialist to join our busy team, flexible working across the NWS estate.
As part of this role, you will support the delivery of quality assurance activities as part of the integrated NWS Technical Quality Assurance Programme (working with a range of stakeholders including internal customers, suppliers and service providers).
You will also use quality assurance as a mechanism for strengthening compliance and driving improvements in technically assured work relating to the scope managed within Waste Management and Inventory, as well as supporting quality assurance arrangements for the broader range of NWS Waste Services.
- Perform audits and other quality assurance activities in line with the annual programme and direction of line manager.
- Plan, scope and conduct assigned audits in line with the agreed programme and business processes.
- Provide high quality, timely and accurate reporting from assurance activities undertaken.
- Support technical and commercial arrangements for the NWS Waste Verification Monitoring programme at LLWR Site.
- Support the mechanism for recording, trending and managing non-compliance issues. Including identification of root causes.
- Offer support and guidance on the application of Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and process performance metrics (for both NWS and 3rd parties such as service providers and supply chain) in order to strengthen compliance and focus quality assurance arrangements.
- Contribute to corporate targets and strategy through the provision of a value adding technical assurance service, promoting continuous improvement.

Essential
- Experience in assurance / auditing (ideally in a highly regulated environment)
- Depth and breadth of experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Driving license / willing to travel
Desirable
- University degree in scientific, engineering or quality assurance related discipline (or relevant demonstrable experience)
- Membership of a professional institute / industry body
- A good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and their implementation
- Internal Audit qualification
- Lead auditor qualification
- A broad understanding of NWS Waste Management and Enterprise Inventory Office and wider Technical Directorate mission
