Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for an Assistant Sourcing Officer to join its busy team flexible working from our Pelham House location in Cumbria.
As Assistant Procurement Officer you will be assisting in the provision of an effective procurement and contract management function across the department in line with existing procedures. The role will be varied between coordinating transactional purchasing activities across the LLWR site and supporting procurements, primarily in the Integrated Waste Management Directorate.
This is an excellent role for anyone who has had some involvement with commercial activities in the past or is currently involved in commercial activities on the periphery, and would like to get more involved and grow their experience in this area.
- Seek quotations on a variety of goods and services, issue Purchase Orders and expedite delivery.
- Assist in the preparation, and occasionally lead the development, of tender documentation such as Further Competitions, Invitations to Tender and contracts.
- Participate in, and occasionally lead, tender evaluation exercises and prepare tender evaluation reports.
- Assist in the creation of suitable contract records to meet internal and statutory requirements.
- Assist in the management of transactional contract deliverables.
- Supporting the Sourcing Officer & Sourcing Manager in the day to day management of a portfolio of contracts;
- Following the business processes that support the Commercial & Contract Management Team as defined in the NWS Management System.
- Supporting the NDA Collaborative Procurement programme.
- Maintaining an awareness of suppliers and services in order to support the needs of the department.
- Assist in the preparation of procurement strategies.
- Preparing contract documents and records for configuration control and archiving purposes.
- Carry out commercial reporting requirements for internal and external sources.
- Deputise for the Sourcing Officer as required.
- Have knowledge of contract terms and conditions to ensure that contract management can be delivered effectively.
- Achieve individual Performance Objectives set by the Line Manager.
- Identifying job specific training requirements and development needs.
- Good level of GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience of commercial and procurement processes and contract terms
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
