Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Construction Logistics Planner within the structures and civil infrastructure team, flexible working across the NWS estate.

The Construction Logistics Planner will support both the Construction team and Transport Infrastructure team in developing Site Evaluation and Initial Concept Design studies for the construction and operation of a Geological Disposal Facility. They will be responsible for managing work undertaken by the supply chain which will involve the scoping, co-ordination and oversight of single, and multi-discipline design projects to the required scope, quality standards, schedule and cost. In addition, they may act as Intelligent Customer for construction planning works.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Translate programme requirements and provide solutions through design engineering.
  • Deliver design outputs working with the engineering team and other Technical teams e.g. Safety Cases 
  • Experience of the Engineering design lifecycle, cost control and scheduling.
  • Lead, direct, & control Engineering activities to the required standards, and ensure effective team leadership, and performance driven culture.
  • Provide ongoing assurance that Engineering processes & procedures are fit for purpose and assure compliance.
  • Management responsibility for direct reports within the Engineering Managers (Design) team and supply chain contractors (where appropriate)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Team leadership >10 FTE
  • Interface with stakeholders across NWS, up to and including N-1.
  • Interface with external stakeholders, including customers and supply chain
Experience Required
  • Good first degree in an Engineering discipline & recognised practitioner in management of civil, nuclear & mining projects, or operations
  • Strong technical background and a sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, processes, procedures, methods and principles
  • Leadership, influence & communication/interpersonal skills
  • Chartered or working towards chartership
