Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Digital and IT Project Manager to join its busy team flexible working across the NWS estate.

As part of this role, you will ensure we set each project off on the right footing with well-defined scope and objectives, the right stakeholders and partners engaged, buy in to clear execution plans and ensure we drive projects though to go-live and adoption to deliver expected benefits.

This rewarding role will see you working directly with our staff and partners across the organisation. Ideally applicants should have significant previous experience in successful IT and digital project delivery, ideally in a cloud-first and regulated environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • You will deliver all IT projects, in line with our standards and policies to support the company strategy and act as a business partner in supporting the delivery and requirements across the business.
  • Ensure documentation of all project details such as, project charter, business cases, detailed requirements, as well as manage risks and issues and maintain plans and progress reports.
  • Oversee the allocation and management of budget, as well as availability of resources required for a project
  • Develop and implement strategies effective in delivering project within set budget and time constraints. Use appropriate project management tools and techniques to manage and track project performance
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify factors capable of minimizing success of a project. Evaluate the progress of project and determine the need for adjustment in strategy
  • Manage regular and timely meetings to discuss and review project progress and strategies, as well as agree on solutions and gain approvals at each key stage. Run one to one stakeholder interviews and workshops to engage the business, ensure effective requirements capture, test solutions, and test our assumptions
  • Ensure maintenance of all project documentation, including project dashboards presented back to senior stakeholders, so we are all working off the latest information
  • Carry out Vendor/Supplier evaluations as part of supplier selection to select the most appropriate supplier in a compliant manner. Establish and maintain positive trust relationship with third party contractors and vendors
  • Support testing and implementation of new processes and systems, so we deliver on expected outcomes
  • Put in place sufficient communications and training for users so they embrace and adopt new technology to drive maximum benefits
  • Put in place measurement and reporting of benefits delivered and recommend changes as needed.
Experience Required
  • Have a proven track record of leadership in the delivery of successful high value projects
  • Understanding and experience of working in a structured Product/System Development Lifecycle and to best practice/appropriate project standards according to project complexity.
  • Experience of working in both waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • An excellent communicator with a track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Natural facilitator, able to bring people into conversations and workshops, and use collaborative tools and techniques to ensure effective collaboration, challenge, and co-creation of potential solutions.
  • High level of competency with MS office/other tools e.g. Teams/SharePoint for effective collaboration, Excel for data analysis and insights, MS Project
