Nuclear Waste Services is looking for a GDF Digital Transition Senior Project Manager to join our busy team in Harwell, Oxfordshire. 

This role is for a GDF Digital Transition Senior Project Manager with the primary responsibility of delivering IT & digital transformation projects focused on process, systems & tools change to enable the GDF Programme to transition to its Target Operating Model for the next Tranche of the Programme. This is a transformational change as the scale of the activity increases greatly and the Programme begins work with major supply chain partners in a new delivery model.

Responsible for the provision of visible and effective leadership of IT & digital transformation projects, setting out the organisational vision, the activities, milestones, and deliverables needed to get there. Responsible for scoping and defining the work plan and for ensuring that the work is delivered to time, cost and quality. Responsible for planning, budgeting, management arrangements, records and reporting for the projects.

Ensuring that the IT & digital transformation interests and needs of the GDF Programme are met and aligned with wider change activity delivered by NWS’ Transformation Programme. Coordinating transformation activity with other change activity including that of digital change, technical capability development and Intelligent Customer and Intelligent Client initiatives.
 

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring the successful definition and execution of Digital Transformation Projects to meet the collective needs of the GDF Programme & NWS’ Transformation Programme.

  • Own and lead relevant projects to ensure delivery to the agreed project objectives and within the baseline constraints
  • Ensure that effective governance and control is exercised over the projects
  • Ensure integrated planning across projects and up into relevant programmes
  • Accurate reporting
  • Provide effective leadership and support of project teams
  • Work with functional leads, subject matter experts and programme managers to successfully deliver transformation projects, tasks and activities
  • Management of supply chain including contract management (contract specific training will be provided).
  • Identify and mange stakeholder relationships

In addition, the post-holder will undertake other activities commensurate with their skills and experience as and when required

Managers will be expected to support and implement corporate decisions and initiatives as instructed by the Executive.

Experience Required
  • Significant understanding and experience of IT & digital Transformation, preferably in the context of major infrastructure projects.
  • Experienced leading IT & digital change (processes, systems, tools) with the ability to work with an organisation that is undergoing significant transformation and can demonstrate a proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience (5 to 10 years plus) of leading and delivering significant multi £m scale projects
  • Significant experience of planning for and delivering training and large workshops
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing multi-disciplinary teams, including internal and external resources, to drive integration, teamwork and problem solving while holding teams accountable for performance.
  • Visible leadership – able to lead through engaging, motivating, coaching and empowering others.
  • Collaboration – able to establish and develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, bringing people together to benefit projects.
  • Working with ambiguity – able to build consensus and set direction in uncertain situations and apply knowledge and techniques to reduce ambiguity.
  • Conflict resolution – able to recognise, anticipate and effectively deal with existing or potential conflicts or disconnects at individual, team or strategic levels.
  • Communication – demonstrably strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Preferably degree qualified; chartered or member of career relevant organisation.
