The NDA Group has a vacancy for a Head of Group Procurement and Supply Chain to join their busy team, hybrid working from one of their offices in Cumbria, Warrington, Harwell or London.

To give a sense of the scope and impact of this role, we spend around £1.9 billion each year, have 5,000 suppliers and 17 sites – ranging from the very first nuclear power stations, research centers, fuel-related facilities through to Sellafield, with its complex facilities to decommission.

As Head of Group Procurement and Supply Chain, you’ll be accountable for leading and transforming our procurement and supply chain function to ensure we achieve our goal of decommissioning UK’s oldest nuclear sites safely. This means purchasing all the highly specialist goods and services we need to achieve this, from major construction and decommissioning infrastructure, such as nuclear waste processing plants, through to supplies to run our business, such as materials and equipment.

Having great commercial acumen and expertise is a given. As critical is building a team of high-performing commercial professionals and influencing best practice commercial practices across the 11 operating companies in the NDA Group.
You’ll also be a key member of the NDA Commercial Senior Leadership Team, working collaboratively to achieve our overall commercial strategy and goals.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a proactive and expert commercial team (35 people, mainly in Warrington and Cumbria) to achieve procurement and supply chain goals and add demonstrable value across the Group by recruiting, developing, and supporting people with the necessary strengths and capability.
  • Establish and communicate the pipeline for all Group procurement activity to enable effective delivery and value for money. Ensuring clarity of future plans, timely completion of assurance and approval processes, regulatory compliance, appropriate competition will all be part of the role.
  • Establish appropriate mechanisms to ensure category strategies are developed and implemented for all third-party spend for the Group.
  • Oversee procurement activities performed by the NDA category teams, including collaborative activities across the whole NDA group, to optimise quality and value of goods and services purchased.
  • Review major procurement programmes across the NDA Group to ensure compliance with commercial policies and regulatory requirements and to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Build trusted and collaborative working relationships with stakeholders across the NDA Group including relevant C-Suite members, Commercial Directors and procurement leaders to achieve greater value. This will include identifying and leading continuous improvement in standards, best practice adoption and inspiring and motivating the broader commercial team to deliver best-in-class service.
  • Maximise the value derived from the NDA supply chain through excellent practice and strong leadership.
  • Work with industry to develop innovative ways to resolve decommissioning challenges to enable the UK to be a leader in this global challenge.
  • Develop the next generation of commercial experts to manage the multi-decade challenge that decommissioning gives.
