Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for a Nuclear Safety Case Apprentice to join Nuclear Waste Services on a 5 year fixed term contract.
As part of your apprenticeship programme, you will complete the Level 6 Scientific Nuclear Integrated Degree apprenticeship.
The Nuclear Safety Case is a suite of documentation detailing the hazards associated with operations at a Nuclear facility, the potential consequences and risk associated with these hazards and this risk can be appropriately controlled to levels which are deemed acceptable.
Depending on the applicant the role could involve the preparation and review of safety case documentation, managing the implementation of controls identified within them as well as stakeholder engagement to improve hazard understanding and control.
The day to day role would also include coordinating task delivery across the team, support to key safety committees, identification/sharing/implementing process improvements, coordinating multi-discipline workshops.
NWS are currently delivering Safety Case work across all major facility lifecycles from early design through to demolition and offers a wide range of continual professional development through Safety Case career pathways to advanced specialist assessment areas, safety case management and senior leadership positions.
Typically applicants will have achieved grade C/4 or above in at least five GCSE’s including English, Maths and a Science subject. Applicants will also require to hold a minimum of 96 UCAS points or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications.
