NWS are currently recruiting a Plant Operations Controller for our site in Cumbria.

The role within the Site operations Team is to: manage the work scope and management arrangements for the LLWR site including all operational facilities, and to control and supervise site operations within Site Licence Condition 26 (Control and Supervision of Operations),  Site Licence condition 28 (Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing) and Site licence condition 12 (Duly Authorised person)
 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • To support the site operations manager in ensuring that site operations are conducted safely, and within the operations procedures defined by the nuclear site licence.
  • To implement and manage command, control, and supervision of operations at the LLWR site in accordance with site licence condition 23 (control and supervision) & site licence. condition 28 (examination, inspection, maintenance, and testing) for all operational areas.
  • To support the site operations manager in ensuring the effective implementation of the site operating standards (disciplined operations) required. Ensure all disciplined operations work is executed with rigour and excellence.
  • Provide operational support and technical input to the site Operations Team, Identifying plant and process improvements.
  • PMP Manager- Preparation, implementation, and maintenance of plant modification proposals (PMP')
  • Define and produce waste sampling plans to support site Operations
  • Develop and implement waste disposal strategies to support site Operations
  • Support the implementation of Disciplined Operations and promote the raising of Site Standards
  • Produce/ review Management System documents in support of Repository Operations ensuring no overdue documents.
  • Provide emergency arrangements response.
  • Deputise for the LLW Operations Manager when required.
  • Custodianship of drums including drum forecasts, updating, and maintaining inventory records, assisting with accountancies (PIV), dispatch configuration including drum selection and compliance with Certificate of Approval and CFA, and completing drum record updates.
  • Management of waste including skip controlling to support waste consignments, clean and radiological waste.
  • Develop and implement waste disposal strategies to support site Operations.
  • Carrying out SQEP assessments.
  • Managing compliance of facility CMMS prompts and liaising with work groups carrying out the work.
  • Safe delivery of operations for the LLWR site
  • Command, control, and coordination for all operational areas on the LLWR site
  • Continuous improvement of the working practices, processes, and procedures
  • Supporting tasks associated with the facility carried out by the Project teams, Building Management and Safety Case teams
  • Ensuring scheduling of work packs within the facility are planned and resourced to meet requirements, working with the Works Planning Team.
  • Ensure all operations on the site are compliant and stay with the safety boundaries identified within the site safety case and environmental safety case.
  • To be aware of and abide by the company’s Standards and Expectations
  • Awareness of the environmental issues associated with the role
  • Ensuring waste is correctly segregated to ensure compliant disposal
  • Manage the risks within your scope of work in compliance with the company risk management procedures.
  • Comply with RSP 12.16 with respect to information assets.
  • To always act in a secure manner, recognise potential consequences of personal behaviour and say if others fall short with respect to security
  • To consider ED&I in all conversations and interactions, ensuring you treat all individuals equally, respectfully and in line with LLWR’s ED&I principles
Experience Required

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in front line operations and maintenance activities, with proven knowledge and experience in Nuclear safety cases, associated procedures and arrangements
  • Good understanding of Licence conditions 26 (Control and supervision of operations) & Site licence condition 28 (Examination, inspection, maintenance and testing)
  • Knowledge and experience in discipline operations
  • Excellent and proven communication skills
