Nuclear Waste Services has a vacancy for an experienced Civil Structural Engineering Technician to join our team at the LLWR site.
The Civil Structural Engineering Technician will be part of a small team of engineers and technicians assisting the CS&A Responsible Engineer in:
- Producing Civil Structural drawings and models as part of design packages to support projects and tasks on the LLWR site.
- Providing Civil Structural technical support to the Systems Engineering and Operations and Maintenance teams on the LLWR site.
- Assist the Responsible Engineer with civil asset surveys, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) piloting
Projects and task will be part of the following programmes on the LLWR site:
- RACER (Repository Asset Care, Enhancements and Remediation) – tasks and projects to support the safe and efficient operation of the LLWR site.
- RDP (Repository Development Project) – task and projects to enable the long-term capping of waste disposal facilities on the LLWR site.
- Support to Geological Disposal Facility project.
Roles and Responsibilities
- To produce Civil Structural models and drawings of a suitable quality supporting successful project and task delivery.
- To assist with the production of other Civil Structural design deliverables (e.g specification, calculations and technical reports) of a suitable quality supporting successful project and task delivery.
- To produce “as-built” Civil Structural drawings to ensure that they reflect the configuration baseline and allow projects and tasks to be successfully closed out.
- To carry out plant walkdowns and revise record drawings supporting the management of the Civil Structural configuration baseline.
- To manage and administer the LLWR site live services drawing.
- To assist with the management of the CE&I aspects of the live services drawing and collate information for LLWR site excavations.
- UAV pilot capability (training to be provided).
- Assist with the undertaking of civil infrastructure & topographic site surveys.
- Assist with the site job supervisor as required.
- To manage own workload, attend project and team meetings and provide regular progress updates supporting the management of the Civil Structural team and successful project and task delivery.
- To maintain technical competence and currency with respect to modern Civil Structural standards, BIM and methodologies to allow compliance with current best practice and ensure compliance with regulations, standards and procedures
Experience Required
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
- Suitable post-qualification experience.
Desirable
- HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
- The ability to obtain SC clearance.
