We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Authorised Person – electrical (SAPe) to join our team based at the Low Level Waste Repository.
As a SAPe, you will act as the authorised person for all electrical work on the site as well as an Intelligent Customer for Control, Electrical and Instrumentation (EC&) Goods and Services.
You will act as a SME (Subject Matter Expert), DAP (Duty Authorised Person) secondary for electrical safety as well as a Process Owner.
You will work closely with the System Engineering Capability to provide management of System Health.
- Set, improve, and maintain standards and expectations on electrical safety.
- Recommend, assess and appoint (where appropriate) Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel as Nominated Persons (electrical) and Authorised Persons (electrical)
- Assist the Process Owner for Electrical Safety to maintain the electrical safety processes and procedures.
- Audit electrical safety
- Provide professional advice, guidance, information, clarification coaching and mentoring.
- Support maintenance activities by:
- Assisting in the preparation of discipline specific work packages and determination of post-maintenance test requirements.
- Assisting with the planning of complex maintenance activities based on insight and system experience.
- Support the Asset Management Programme by:
- Providing expert advice on ageing of Electrical Distribution Equipment.
- Proactively support LLWR’s Asset Management Programme implementation including providing technical input to the production of Asset Management Plans and related programme outputs.
- Providing System Engineers with the relevant data relating to electrical equipment and systems to allow them to produce system health reports and asset management plans.
- Share learning from LLW Repository, the NDA estate and wider industry to drive best practice in the EIM&T, operations and safety of electrical equipment and systems incorporate learning from operating experience feedback (OEF).
- Where required, liaise with regulators including the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for issues or events relating to electrical systems
Essential
- BEng with significant electrical engineering content (minimum), or equivalent
- Strong general understanding of high voltage power networks and be experience of low voltage and high voltage environments (up to 11kV)
- Practical understanding of electrical safety legislation
- Practical understanding of safely operating low voltage and high voltage distribution systems (up to 11kV)
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (or demonstrably equivalent qualifications and experience)
- MEng with significant electrical engineering content or equivalent
- Experience of Asset Management / System Engineering practices and processes
- Proven experience working in a nuclear regulated environment
