The System Engineering team at LLWR has an opening for a Systems Engineer - Electrical to join its busy team in Cumbria.

The System Engineering team provides an Operational Engineering service to LLWR Site acting as the technical “owner” of site assets. This is achieved by developing and maintaining expertise on assigned plant system(s) and/or area(s) and to use this knowledge to improve facility reliability and safety by ensuring the overall performance, safety, condition and associated documentation of these assigned systems are maintained to a high standard.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Performing reviews of temporary modifications and conduct safety evaluations and operability determinations as required to support system activities and operation.
  • Serving as a source of technical expertise on assigned systems, including:
    • o Maintaining system files that reflect the performance, maintenance, operation, and design history of the system including establishing and maintaining Configuration Management documents on assigned systems.
    • o Supporting facility training activities on assigned system/area(s).
    • o Attending periodic and special training to maintain skills and qualifications.
    • o Interface with customers, stakeholders and regulators, as requested.
  • Supporting risk assessment process for engineering activities.
  • Supporting the Asset Management program by:
    • o Providing advice on ageing plant and appropriate condition assessment techniques and monitor condition trends.
    • o Assist with establishing a range of technology solutions to assist in performing remaining life assessments (RLA) for important assets.
    • o Assist with establishing/using decision tools to help identify when assets may be subject to ageing and recommend/implement risk management strategies when the plant cannot be readily inspected for RLA.
  • Establishing the plant engineering-related Intelligent Customer (IC) functional and resource requirements.
  • Establishing the plant engineering-related requirements and lead plant engineering participation in supply chain engagement strategies.
Experience Required
  • Relevant experience working in a Electrical capacity supporting an industrial facility
  • Broad knowledge of industry consensus standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to System Engineering together with full understanding of underlying principles.
  • Ability to ensure minimum standards and fundamental process requirements are maintained when under pressure to deliver and ability to challenge others at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in the production of technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.

  • Working knowledge and experience of Maintenance Strategy development principals and processes. E.g. Technical Basis of Maintenance
